This is a natural area located at an altitude between 350 and 700 meters above sea level. The Valle del Freddo (Cold Valley) has a wide variety of plant species (including edelweiss, gentians, and rhododendrons) that are normally only found at altitudes above 1,000 meters and, not infrequently, at 1,500 meters.
This is due to a marked microthermal phenomenon that manifests itself with the emission of cold air from certain “cold spots” in the ground. In summer, a visit here is a truly refreshing pleasure.
